1)  Sub-Inspector of Police : 

1. Sixty percent by direct recruitment, (Civil) & (Armed)
2. Thirty percent by promotion on the basis of    seniority- cum- merit from the cadres of Asst. SIs/Head Constables.
3. Ten percent by selection of in-service candidates from the cadres of ASI/HC/PC.

2)  Police Constable :

1. Eighty-five percent by direct  recruitment, and
2. Fifteen percent by posting eligible Police Constables who have completed ten years of regular service in CAR/DAR.

3)  Women Police Sub-Inspector:

1. Sixty percent by direct recruitment, and
2. Forty percent by promotion from the cadres of Asst. Sub Inspectors of Police/Head Constables on the basis of seniority cum-merit

4)  Women Police Constable:  - By direct recruitment.

5) Armed Reserve Sub- 

1. Sixty percent by direct recruitment Inspector of Police: 
2. Thirty percent by promotion on the basis  of seniority-cum-merit from the cadres  Asst. Sub-Inspectors of Police/Head constables.
3. Ten percent by selection of in service candidates from the cadres of ARSIs/AHCs/APCs.

6)  Armed Police Constable: By direct recruitment or by posting of   eligible Police Constables who have completed five years of regular service in KSRP.  The posting shall be made by the DG & IGP.  The seniority of such Police Constables shall be maintained in the cadre of Armed Police Constable taking into consideration their service for the purpose of promotion from the date of entry into service.  

7) Band Master (English Band) By promotion from the cadre of Asst.   Band Master OR By deputation basis from equivalent cadre or  on contract basis.

8) Band Master (Karnatic Band)  By promotion from the cadre of Asst. Band Master OR By deputation basis, OR  on contract basis. 

9) Musician: By direct recruitment.

10) Reserve Police Constable: By direct recruitment

11)  Sub-Inspector of Police: By direct recruitment Finger Print Bureau

12)  Sub-Inspector of Fifty percent by direct recruitment  and Police (Wireless) fifty percent by promotion from the cadre of Senior Radio Mechanic, Asst. Sub-Inspector (Wireless), Asst.Sub-Inspector (Electronics) and Asst.Sub-Inspector (Radio Mechanics).
