"The Calcutta High Court is the oldest High Court in India. It was established on 1st July, 1862 under the High Court’s Act, 1861. It has jurisdiction over the state of West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The High Court building was designed by Mr. Walter Granville, Government Architect, on the model of the ‘Stadt-Haus’ or Cloth Hall at Ypres in Belgium.
The seat of the High Court is Kolkata, capital of West Bengal. It also has a permanent Circuit Bench in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The court has a sanctioned judge strength of 58."

Shorthand and Typing test was held on 19th January, 2013 for filling up of 7
(Seven) vacancies to the post of Assistant Registrar (Court Recording), Original
Side in terms of Advertisement Reference No.HCOS/ARCR/2012 dated 21st
November, 2012. After evaluation, following 7 (seven) candidates, arranged in
order of merit, have been selected for giving appointment to the post of
Assistant Registrar (Court Recording), Original Side as per resolution of the
Hon’ble Members of the Special Committee for recruitment to the post of
Assistant Registrar (Court Recording), Original Side with approval of the Hon’ble
The Chief Justice:-
1. Shri Sanjib Ghosh, Roll No.61;
2. Shri Chinmoy Chakraborty, Roll No.11;
3. Shri Subrata Pal Roll No.12;
4. Shri Aloke Kumar Batabyal Roll No.60;
5. Shri Biswajit Pal Roll No.31;
6. Shri Saurabh Bandyopadhyay Roll No.15;
7. Shri Debashish Ghosh Roll No.30.
As per resolution of the Hon’ble Members of the Special Committee for
recruitment to the post of Assistant Registrar (Court Recording), Original Side and
with approval of the Hon’ble The Chief Justice, a wait list of 6 (six) candidates has
also been prepared for offering appointment to them, in the unlikely event of
any candidate from the above merit list declines to accept appointment or
leaves service within a year of joining. Names of the candidates in the wait list,
arranged according to merit, is as under :-

Letters of appointment in favour of selected 7 (seven) candidates will be
issued in due course and they are directed to join within 15 (fifteen) days of
receipt of the offer of appointment, otherwise, they shall forfeit their right to
appointment.
